Join Us for a Once-in-a-Lifetime Egyptian Experience

A Personalized Approach to Egypt Photography - not a large bus, large group negative experience.

Join us for an unforgettable 2027 Egypt Solar Eclipse Photography Workshop, a 14-day photography adventure designed around one of the most anticipated celestial events of the century: the August 2, 2027 total solar eclipse in Egypt. This immersive Egypt photography workshop combines ancient wonders, desert landscapes, world-famous temples, Nile River scenery, and the rare opportunity to photograph the 2027 total solar eclipse near Luxor, one of the best eclipse-viewing regions in the world.

The August 2, 2027 eclipse will pass through Egypt, with Luxor receiving approximately 6 minutes and 22 seconds of totality, making it one of the premier destinations for eclipse photographers and travelers. This is the longest totality on land until the year 2114!

This 14-day Egypt solar eclipse photo tour takes you from the vibrant streets and ancient landmarks of Cairo, to the temples and tombs of Luxor, then along the Nile on a 4-day cruise to Aswan, before returning to Cairo.

A Landscape of Light, History & Desert Atmosphere

Egypt’s timeless scenery — ancient temples, desert landscapes, the Nile River, and world-famous archaeological sites — is a dream for photographers. If you're aiming to capture the 2027 total solar eclipse on your own, location, planning, heat, visibility, and logistics will be key factors. Egypt’s dry desert climate offers strong potential for clear skies, especially compared to many cloudier eclipse destinations, but successful eclipse photography still requires the right strategy, preparation, and positioning. With our experience, planning, and workshop structure, your chances of photographing this once-in-a-lifetime eclipse can improve significantly.

What Is a Total Solar Eclipse?

A total solar eclipse occurs when the Moon completely blocks the Sun, revealing its ethereal corona and casting an eerie twilight over the landscape. For a few unforgettable minutes, you’ll witness one of nature’s most powerful and photogenic phenomena — a dream scenario for photographers.

What to Expect in August

Photographers should expect very hot, dry summer conditions in Egypt, especially in Cairo, Luxor, and Aswan. In Cairo, August daytime highs are typically around 95–96°F (35–36°C), with warm nights around 75–76°F (24°C). In Luxor, conditions are even hotter, with average daytime highs around 103–106°F (39–41°C) and nighttime lows around 77–79°F (25–26°C). Rainfall is extremely rare, and the desert climate often brings long stretches of strong sun and clear skies.

For photographers, this means planning carefully for heat, hydration, sun protection, and long periods outdoors. Lightweight breathable clothing, a wide-brim hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, and a refillable water bottle are strongly recommended. Camera gear should also be protected from dust, heat, and direct sun whenever possible. Early mornings, late afternoons, and golden hour will generally be the most comfortable and visually rewarding times to photograph, while midday is typically spent indoors.

Once-in-Our-Lifetime Event

The next total solar eclipse in Egypt will be March 20, 2034, but totality will be over the remote southeastern desert regions!!

28th-30th July 2027

Cairo to Luxor

On July 31, we fly from Cairo to Luxor, positioning ourselves in one of the most important locations for the 2027 total solar eclipse in Egypt.

Luxor is often called the world’s greatest open-air museum, and it is one of the most photogenic destinations in Egypt. Its temples, tombs, desert landscapes, and Nile River views make it an exceptional base for both ancient Egypt photography and eclipse photography.

31st July 2027

Two Days of Photography in Luxor, including the Eclipse

We will spend two full days photographing Luxor, including the major archaeological and landscape photography locations that make this region so famous.

August 2 is the centerpiece of this workshop: the 2027 total solar eclipse in Egypt. Luxor is one of the best-known locations along the eclipse path, with totality lasting more than six minutes.

This day will focus on photographing the eclipse safely and creatively. Participants will have the opportunity to capture eclipse phases, totality, the solar corona, environmental eclipse scenes, reaction images, and documentary-style coverage of one of the most important astronomical events of the century.

Documentation

Depending on your nationality and duration of stay, a visa may be required. Should you encounter any complications, do not hesitate to seek guidance from us. It is imperative to ascertain the specific visa prerequisites for your country of residence before embarking on the trip.

GRATUITIES

  1. Restaurants & Cafés: 10% to 15% of the total bill is standard. Even if a service charge is included, it is good practice to leave a little extra directly for your server.
  2. Housekeeping: We will tip them.
  3. Local guides and drivers for our group: We will tip them.
  4. Bellhops: 10 to 20 EGP per bag. Some non-hotel employees will offer to help move your bags a few feet and then expect a tip. Some will get very angry if you refuse to tip. If you do not want help, it is best to not look at them, and refuse their help.
  5. Taxis: If you go somewhere on your own. For traditional local taxis, negotiate the price beforehand or simply round up the fare to the nearest 10 or 20 EGP. Many taxi drivers will be very aggressive. For ride-sharing apps like Uber, tipping is appreciated but not mandatory; rounding up or adding 10 to 20 EGP is a nice gesture.
  6. Small Services: 10 to 20 EGP is perfect for bathroom attendants, parking attendants, or anyone who holds a door or points you in the right direction.
  7. Your Workshop Guides: We typically receive 5% for the workshops, this is split between the 2 workshop guides. The tips can be more or less depending upon participants' financial situations and their experiences.

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

  1. Bottled Water - Do not drink tap water.
  2. Wi-Fi will be accessible in hotels. But it is usually not fast speeds. Prior to arrival in Egypt, you can obtain a virtual e-SIM from websites such as https://esim.holafly.com/ or similar services and activate it upon landing.
  3. Exchanging dollars for Egyptian pounds (EGP) is necessary if you are going to be buying anything in the market or for leaving gratuities. Exchange facilities are available at the airport.
  4. Egypt utilizes European type C or F plugs. Visitors from countries not utilizing the "Europlug" should plan to bring an adapter. If your charger is not rated for 110V-240V 50hz-60hz, then you will also need a converter.
