We are dedicated to making your Alaska bear photography workshop & tour the best possible experience you can have.
You will spend your time photographing brown bears at the some of the best places in the United States, Katmai National Park and Preserve. These places include Brooks Falls at Brooks Camp, Moraine Creek and Tunnel Creek.
Our ultimate goal is to go beyond the expected and deliver stunning results!!
Set on 120 untouched acres along the scenic Nonvianuk River, the Lodge is a premier basecamp for photographers in the heart of Alaska’s Katmai National Park and Preserve. Built with bear photography at its core, the lodge offers unmatched access to capture the park’s legendary brown bears in their natural environment. The lodge has a max capacity of 10 photographers. Relax and connect with other photographers in our inviting communal spaces.
5 Daily Fly Outs + A Last Day Fly Out - The Lodge is just 20 minutes by air from iconic bear photography destinations like Brooks Falls and Moraine Creek—and only 10 minutes from Upper American Creek, Big Ku, and Little Ku Rivers—this photography workshop places you in the heart of some of the world’s best bear-viewing locations. It is the perfect blend of comfort, adventure, and world-class photographic opportunities.
Group discussions and image reviews are one of the most rewarding parts of a bear photography workshop. They provide a chance to learn from different perspectives, see how others interpret the same scene, and gain fresh ideas for composition, timing, and technique. Feedback from instructors and peers helps refine your skills, spot small details you might have missed, and develop a stronger photographic eye. Plus, the collaborative atmosphere builds camaraderie—turning a group of photographers into a supportive creative community. Group discussions are optional.
Katmai National Park is world-famous for its incredible wildlife and breathtaking scenery, earning its place as a premier destination for bear photographers. Some of the must-see locations include:
The vivid crimson of spawning sockeye salmon creates a striking contrast against the brown tones of Alaska’s bears and the cool blues and greens of rivers and streams. This pop of color not only adds visual drama but also tells a richer story—capturing the peak of the salmon run, the bears’ feeding frenzy, and the vibrant life cycle of the region. For wildlife photographers, it’s the perfect blend of action, color, and context in a single frame.
You will spend your summer trip, alongside an Award-winning wildlife photographer as your photography guide and instructor. This is the greatest place in the United States for brown bears. Some say even the best place in the world. If it were up to us, we would go with best place on Earth!
Activity level: Moderate. Up to a five miles each day wading in the river, or walking on the riverbank. The five miles is throughout the entire day, not all at once.
This bear photography tour is not limited to photographers. Anyone interested in seeing Alaskan brown bears up close in the wild are welcome to join the tour.
